I'm a Gen Xer, but I've done a bit of field research with the natives of Gen Z, and my observations indicate that conversations via text often never really begin or end. Although there may sometimes be "I have to go" and "see you," often they simply move with more or less formality, and more or less immediacy, moment by moment by moment.
